Speech Rubric

Each speech is worth up to 10 points. Speeches will be evaluated in two categories, speech content and technical speech delivery. Each category is worth up to 5 points.

 

 

Content

Technical

5 Points

The speech includes plentiful facts and policy statements. It references previous resolutions, speeches and statements regarding the topics.

Speech is on topic, clearly audible, well articulated and diplomatically presented.

4 Points

Includes some facts, policy, and references, although to a lesser degree than a 5.

The speech is for the most part well constructed, but may include a few undiplomatic terms or be somewhat difficult to understand.

3 Points

The speech may not include one of the categories mentioned above, or may include little relevant information or policy.

The speech has a clear point, but it may not be addressed. The delegate may use some undiplomatic terms or attacks, or may be difficult to hear or understand.

2 Points

The speech includes little or no in the way of factual information (statistics and references) but presents policy, or includes facts but does not bring up their relevance in policy.

The speech is difficult to understand and follow. There is an excess of inappropriate comments or attacks.

1 or 0 Points

The speech includes neither facts, nor policy, and does not show evidence of effort.

The speech is incoherent, includes major logical fallacies, or includes an unacceptable number or inappropriate comments or attacks.
